In the studio

Hey friends and random visitors.
I have been on a bit of a slow streak of creation since my solo show ended, but I am still in the studio, working away.  Just for fun, I thought I would show you a small litho I am currently working on.
I started with a bright rainbow roll, using colours that don't enter my palette recently. It's been a fun challenge figuring out how to make the piece work.
FYI, I still haven't quite figured it out, but I have an image in my mind.

I was going for an intense sunset vibe.

 Now, currently at 5 layers. The background was printed twice (hard to see in the image, but adds depth to the colours)

CCP 2015 Miniprint Catalog

Now you can see the whole exhibition without even going to the gallery! Perfect for people, such as myself, who do not yet have access to teleportation (or an unlimited stack of airplane tickets).

Lessedra 2015

I have participated in the Lessedra Miniprint a couple times. Miniprint competitions are one relatively easy way to have your prints displayed around the world, and I quite enjoy working in small format.
This year, to my surprise, I was awarded one of the special prizes! It's such a great feeling, as I often wonder if anyone even notices my work.
They have uploaded some photos of the exhibition, jurying and opening on the website. My work is all the way at the very bottom, so I'll also include it here for your viewing pleasure.

IPCNY New Prints 2015/Summer

So, here's some great news!
I was accepted into IPCNY New Prints 2015/Summer show!!!
Wow, I was not expecting that.
Second time this year I can cross something off my list of goals as a printmaker.

The piece is a small wood engraving, which you can see here on the net

But I highly recommend seeing it in person if you are in or around the New York City area.

Center for Contemporary Printmaking Miniprint 2015

I was accepted to take part in this year's 10th Biennial Miniature Print Competition at the Center for Contemporary Printmaking in Connecticut.
This is probably the smallest format (correct me if I'm wrong) print biennial out there! The max image size is 25.8 cm squared! That's tiny!
My print is a 5 x 5 cm 3 colour lithography titled "Sweet Tooth"
Show opens June 7th.

Bibliotheca Alexandrina

So, I decided to send some small prints to Bibliotheca Alexandrina International Biennale for Miniature Graphics. It seems that my works arrived safely, as well as the digital images of my prints (2 wood engravings and a linocut/litho print). Unfortunately, the photo of me didn't seem to make it, so I am faceless in the catalogue. Oh well! Take a look-see, but note it's a pretty big file.
